1 Peter 4:12-19

Beloved….Commit your soul

1 Peter 4:1-11 recap

8 End of all things @ Hand Charges:

Be serious

Be watchful

Have Fervent love

Be hospitable: it’s easy till it’s not! Or till it’s a lot! That’s why:

Be hospitable without grumbling

Minister to one another with the ability with God supplies

Be good stewards of the manifold grace of God: Caretakers

If anyone Speaks: speak as the oracles of God. “What He said”

Serve God, in the ability that God supplies, that in all things God my be Glorified through Jesus Christ to Whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. So be it: Amen.

In His service, by His strength, for His glory!

As we are saved by Grace not of ourselves, we serve by Grace not of ourselves. Eph. 2:8-9

1 Peter 4:12-19

Beloved: Agapetos: divinely loved ones, loved by God

Don’t think it’s strange:

Concerning the fiery trial:

As though some strange thing happened to you

But: contrast

Do not think it’s strange but rejoice

Rejoice: it is literally to experience and be conscious for [(-of), for is possession, whereas of is knowledge] God’s Grace.

To the extent:

Deeper suffering, greater joy

That you partake of Christ suffering:

To share anything with Jesus is a good thing

That when: our Hope, our fixed vision

His glory is revealed(revelation): His glorious appearing

You may also:

Be glad with exceeding joy:

In every context it conveys more than an inner feeling; it is an outward, Spirit-borne exultation rooted in God’s saving work and future hope.

New-covenant exultation therefore is not circumstantial; it is anchored in a promised inheritance that remains “undefiled, unfading, kept in heaven”

1 Peter 4:14-15

If you approached for Jesus

Blessed are you

For the Spirit of Glory

And of God

Rests upon you

The Christian witness is a simultaneous contrast

There is a worldview of thinking versus Christian worldview

One blasphemes, the other Glorifies

Not all suffering is of God:

Allowed by God

Brought on by consequences

But: contrast

Let none of you suffer as:

We might, and we will suffer, but…

Look at this list!

Murder, thief, an evildoer, ???busy body!!!

1 Peter 4:16-19

Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian:

Christian: disciple of Christ, of Christ – follower, member of the Christ-party

Suffering, persecuted, ridicule for doing good-NO SHAME

The House of God:

Has Christ cleansed the temple

The disappearing Gray. Good/evil.

Cleansing is happening in His houses of Worship now.
