1 Peter
Our Living Hope and Holy Life
Through Christ’s Resurrection
For the Hope we Claim
What Trials Produce;
Though trials may bring about despair yet not hopeless
Trials produce a far greater worth
1 Peter 1:6-9
Rejoicing through grief and various trials,
Refined more precious than gold
Be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ
Believing yet not seeing
Rejoicing with joy and expressively and full of glory
Established to receive the end of our faith: the Salvation of our souls.
NOW:
Hebrews 11
A present-day ownership of the future Hope of our inward reality.
Critical aspects of faith:
What it is
What it produces
What a declares
What it is:
Substance/Confidence, reality, a firm foundation, evidence
What it produces: Part 1
Again, confidence, assurance, resolute, trust
An outward force produced by an inward trust and revealed knowledge
The reality of Hope, we have motivates us to endure in the “all things“
What a declares:
A present date ownership of things hoped for
A reality of an inner trust of things to come
Our inward response to God‘s trustworthy and unfailing nature
What it produces: Part 2 “Christ in us”
That which has been revealed to us
Resulting in decisive obedience, the action of faith produced by Hope
Faith activates believers, as seen in the past heroes and the present day believers:
To preach more boldly, pray more consistently and unceasingly,
Love unconditionally, serve more compassionately, work tirelessly.
A great maxim Faith:
Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
And all the ways you can,
And all the places you can,
And all the times you,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.
Reverend John Wesley
Declared Salvation previously known:
1 Peter 1:10-12
Of this Salvation (not a different one)
Prophesied of Grace that would come
The Spirit of Christ, who was in them
The Spirit of Christ was:
Indicating, testifying, revealing
For our walk of Holiness:
1 Peter 1:13-25
