Hebrews 12

Consider Jesus

Who Endured

Faith is: Living in the Promises of God

as if they are already received.

Walking in and by Faith in God while persevering in trials, persecutions, difficulties and testings.

Faith is: the substance of things hoped for,

the evidence of things not seen

Recap: Faith acts out of bold confidence

and is backed up by the power of the unseen.

Faith is God using the ordinary to do the extraordinary.

Faith is needed in all situations.

Faith is fueled by God: By His Word and By His power,

By His promises. .

Consider Him Who Endured:

Consider versus considering

Taking careful and attentive thought, decisive

Not, “well I am considering to…“

It’s not a consideration, it is a determination.

Not as if to make a choice, but to be determined of the choice by viewing the example life of the proper and victorious choice.

Therefore…

Let us: This verbiage Is inclusive:

It seems to include not only the writer by also the Lord

Also inclusive is the action list of verses 1-4

Reminder definition:

Cast off, strip off a soiled garment so that a new life in Christ maybe worn and displayed. Looking away from is to be looking unto.

Galatians 2:20, Colossians 3:17, 23

A new view in the zoo.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].

Viewed and considered:

What Jesus endured?

How Jesus endured.

The action of Jesus enduring.

The outcome of the enduring.

What:

Blasphemy

Hurtful and shameful accusations

Scourging and mocking

Brutal beatings

Humiliation and crown of thorns

An insulting robe to shame Him

Mocking

Hostility, hatred, and humility in His hometown

Constant barrage of entrapment and attempted embarrassment

Lied about

Accusations of gluttony and drunkenness

Betrayal

Rejection

(Spurgeon quote)

How:

He considered:

The joy that was set before Him

The action of enduring:

He kept his tongue

His course

His progress

His joy

His focus and purpose

His love of all

The outcome:

He sat down at the right hand of the throne of God

Victory

1 Corinthians 15:58

NKJV title heading:

The Discipline of the Lord

…. do not despise the chastening of the Lord…

Hebrews 12:4-12

God allows

He does not orchestrate evil, but is the overcoming to it

And you have forgotten
